i’ve not been making things have i. there’s a very good reason. my guitar amp (which also serves as my DI) has been broken for a couple of weeks now. i sent it off for fixage but everyone is slow to do things it would seem. it’s not just me who drags my heels when it comes to doing a thing that needs doing. so thats my (for once fairly decent) excuse for not making new things. i never really realised just how vital my guitar amp is in my setup… very.

anyway despite this lack of home recording ability i am pushing on with the band. we SHOULD be giggable very soon. it’s just a case of drumming (heh) the structures of the chosen songs into the memory of the drummer and then playing in a place in front of some people as they consume alcohol.

this wasn’t a very interesting post was it.

i havent been doing a great deal of those stuffs lately, i’m gradually working on a 2nd bandcamp album and the occasional bit of ornsack flavour stuff (and perhaps for more people too) but really and truely i’ve been slacking. hard.

the majority of said slacking has been through tribes ascend which is a game what where you shoot at people and often capture flags. i was attracted by the oldschool PC shooter feel of fast moving players with slow projectile weapons and a high skill ceiling ala quake games. i miss those days. yeah free to play and all that balls, have a go.

i should game less and muskit more.

i’m not a very good band leader. i’m just not naturally that sort of a person. i dont like singing and i dont enjoy ordering my peers around. BUT I MUST. this is really an ability i need to work on. i’m so used to just playing on my own that now the full wall of sound provided by a full band at full volume seems overwhelming. i need to keep track of the noises i’m making to make sure they’re right. this is all stuff that one needs to get the hang of and i will. i just havent nailed it yet.

anyway in actual news i have an EP on the way (to bandcamp) very soon. just need to do the vocals for one track on there. its going to be pay-what-you-want with no minimum. 5 tracks, 2 actual decent ones. (plus secret bonus stuff)

oh and that song i did for a comedic youtube video, as far as i’m aware thats still on the way although already about a month overdue. still the person(s) responsible for that have done lots of brilliant stuff in the past so i dont doubt they’ll get it done one day. oh and the track for this video… yeah its on the EP too. because why not.

ayarrnd finally. i’ve been getting into this sort of thing lately. you may or may not spot the influences of those sorts of noises sneaking their way into more of my music in future. who knows!

i dont feel the slightest bit festive but thats no reason not to say merry christmas to the internet now is it.

couple of little things on the way, one is music for someone’s super cool video which should be released very soon and the other is another EP because i feel the need for such things to happen. 2012 should hold plenty for me… the live band and at least 1 more album. keep an eye out and stuff.

blergh, in my haste to get it out i failed to spot a typo and the fact that according to the mp3 tags there’s two track 13s and no 14! so that’s all fixed now, i’ll be replacing the zip soon along with 2 more tracks (the cascades and the latest narration track with outtakes). Also itunes doesn’t associate the album cover picture with the songs which is mildly annoying.

RBSOST1.1 is on it’s way in the very soonage.

yeah i’ll continue to update it if i find myself doing any more narration parts, just to keep it definitive and complete.

..d….i mean second coming.  yeah i went to see Richard Herring’s show: Christ on a bike – the second coming last night, the DVD recording no less! not too shabby for my first proper comedy gig i’d say.  i have been to a couple of radio 4 recordings before but that was a long time ago and a very VERY different atmosphere. aaanyway i managed to rudely grab his attention for a moment afterwards to make sure he still wants my men of phise song for an extra on said DVD.. he seemed to so to work i go!

what really shocked me is how utterly broken my mind went when i attempted to talk to both Richard AND Andrew Collins! it reminded me rather unpleasantly of being in love actually.. you open your mouth to talk and your brain falls out of it.

as a great man once said: a man starstruck by Andrew Collins is hardly a man at all … wait no only i said that … just then….. and it’s what’s known as a facetious silly joke i think.

I also got to meet a jolly nice chap called AndyMcH who i’m supposed to be in musical herring fandom competition with or SOME rubbish like that. Luckily by that point i remembered how to use a couple of my faculties.

long story still long… i’m a pansy and i didnt even know it. not ideal for someone attempting to get into a performance based profession!

I forgot to do anything at all in the last week or so …. but here’s the current plan of action: wait for my (imminent) acoustic guitar to arrive, finalise the acoustic 2-man versions of my songs, get gigging with them!

might even record some of said acoustic 2-man versions too. oh also illegal operation will be finished soon honest! ive only been promising that song’s completion for a year now … urk.

i have a few things basically finished but since my audio has decided it doesn’t want to work properly any more i’m reinstalling windows.. this however involves backing up 300 gigs of documents and projects onto an old somewhat iffy 300 gig hard drive which i don’t entirely trust .. if i suddenly stop releasing new songs for a while and go temporarily insane i think it’ll be safe to assume the drive died with my stuff on it.

i’m having audio issues with my computer at the moment BUT STILL working on something. revamping the meat song on request. lets see if a reinstall of my music software might help… failing that i might have to reinstall windows as well… blarg!

thats what i get for having the audacity totry and  change the hardware setup even slightly under XP!

my brother has moved in on a temporary basis. the ideas behind this are that being a bass virtuoso he’d be able to help me out with musicing. we were also supposed to offer mutual moral support whilst both giving up smoking (again in my case). but so far all we’ve done is smoked loads and … thats about it actually.

that said the next song to hit the interwebs entitled: an ode to eyelid spasms is very much on it’s way, all it needs is the vocals redoing as the current ones are mere placeholders.

but yeah if we can find a drummer who hasnt given up drums recently and/or isnt rubbish then we will have sufficient personnel to start performing! trouble is we cant at the moment! we have high standards because we happen to both me locally renowned drummers ourselves…. standards are a curse!
